Cécile Renault

Cécile Renault (* 1774 in Paris, † June 17, 1794 in Paris) is a historical figure of the French Revolution. She was sentenced to death for an alleged, attempted assassination of Maximilien Robespierre and guillotined.

Whether Cécile Renault this attack was really up to, is unclear. It is clear that they asked before the tabernacle of Robespierre on May 22, 1794 for entrance. When she was asked what she was looking at Robespierre, she replied that she wanted to see, " as a bully looks like". In their utensils a small penknife was found. This was enough time for the Reign of Terror during the French Revolution for a death sentence.

She was driven in a red shirt on June 17, 1794 to the scaffold. This clothing is the sign of parricide. The statement to this measure, which was to bring the people into disrepute Robespierre came directly from the Safety Committee in which the opponents of Robespierre, a member of the Committee of Public Safety was, had the majority.
