Cedric Haywood

Cedric Haywood ( born December 31, 1914 in Houston, † September 9, 1969 ) was an American jazz pianist.

Cedric Haywood played as a teenager in high school band with Arnett Cobb. His professional career began with a commitment in Chester Boone's band in 1934; after which he played from 1935 to 1942 at Milt Larkin, also with Floyd Ray and Lionel Hampton at the end of the decade. In 1942, he also worked at Sidney Bechet. The mid 1940s moved Haywood to California, then made ​​during the Second World War, his military service and then played at Saunders King 1948. During the 1950s, Haywood worked mainly at Illinois Jacquet, Cal Tjader and Kid Ory, with which he laid out in 1955 on European tour went. In the 1960s he played with Brew Moore, then moved in 1963 in his hometown of Houston.
