Cefalà Diana

Cefalà Diana is a city in the province of Palermo in the Italian region Sicily, with 1017 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Location and data

Cefalà Diana is located 39 km south of Palermo. The inhabitants mainly work in agriculture.

The neighboring municipalities are Marineo, Mezzojuso and Villafrati.

History

The place was built from 1684 in addition to the already existing medieval castle.

Attractions

  • Castello di Cefalà Diana, a Norman castle, which lies on a strategic defense location on a hill next to the place. From the castle, only a tower and ruins can be seen. From here there is a beautiful view of the surroundings.
  • Bagni di Cefalà Diana, a Norman bathroom, possibly with Arabic Vorläuferbau, about 2 km north- west of the town.
  • Riserva naturale Orientata Bagni di Diana Cefalà e Chiara Stella, a nature reserve on the Pizzo Chiara Stella.
