Fragrant Bisamblume ( Amberboa moschata)

The Fragrant Bisamblume ( Amberboa moschata ), also called musk knapweed, a plant belonging to the subtribe is Centaureinae which also includes the Knapweed (Centaurea ) belong to the subfamily of Carduoideae within the sunflower family ( Asteraceae).

Features

The Fragrant Bisamblume is an annual plant, the plant height of 30 to 60 (80 ) reaches centimeters. The plant is glabrous and branched. The leaves are pinnatisect or cut in pieces and removed serrated or lobed and 10 to 25 cm long.

The long -stalked basket- shaped inflorescence has a diameter of 3 to 5 centimeters. The standing in several rows bracts are green and bare. The inflorescence is flat ground. The flower heads contain only tubular flowers. Of the slightly fragrant tubular flowers are the inner and outer radial symmetry zygomorph. The hem of the florets is slotted. The flowering period extends from July to September.

The dark brown achene is 3.5 to 4 mm in size and smooth. The pappus has several wreaths with 3.5 to 4 mm Pappusschuppen.

Occurrence

The Fragrant Bisamblume comes in the Northeast of Turkey and Transcaucasia before on dry slopes, in wormwood semi-desert and vineyards at altitudes from 1000 to 1650 meters.

Use

The Fragrant Bisamblume scattered used as an ornamental plant for summer flower beds and as cut flowers. It is in culture at least since 1629. There are numerous varieties (selection):

  • 'Alba': The flowers are white.
  • ' Incarnata ': The flowers are pink to red.
  • ' Lutea ': The flowers are golden yellow.
  • ' Lucida ': The baskets have a diameter of about 5 cm, the flowers are purplish-pink.
  • ' Margaritae ': The baskets are larger, the flowers are white and fragrant.
  • ' Imperialism ': the plants are larger in all parts, the flowers are white, pink, lavender, violet or purple.
