Central League

The Central League (Japaneseセントラル·リーグ, Sentoraru Rīgu ) or Ce League (セリーグ, Se Rīgu ) is one of two Japanese professional baseball leagues

The winner of the Central League plays in the so-called Japan Series against the winner of the Pacific League the Japanese baseball champions.

History

The Central League was founded in 1949 with eight teams.

In 2007, the new Climax Series were introduced.

Mode

Despite the name, which suggests a geographical division, the teams come from different parts of the country. The six teams play from April to September in (currently) 140 games a master of. The top three teams will participate in the Climax Series, the winners may compete in the Nihon Series ( Japan Series) against the representatives of the Pacific League in seven games to the Japanese championship.
