This company was renamed in 1974 in the Rosenthal AG, acquired in 1985 by Hoechst AG and Hoechst CeramTec out as from that date. In 1996 it was taken over by the Cerasiv GmbH, headquartered in Plochingen, the newly formed company operated as CeramTec AG.

On Plochingen in 1951 as the Südplastik Rubber and Plastics Processing GmbH, which taken in 1953 by the field mill AG and Südplastik and ceramic GmbH ( SPK) has been renamed. In 1991, the field mill AG pooled their clay activities in the Cerasiv GmbH newly established, but this was sold in 1992 to Metallgesellschaft AG for integration into its subsidiary Dynamit Nobel AG. With the acquisition of Hoechst CeramTec by Cerasiv GmbH in 1996 saw the founding of CeramTec AG as a subsidiary of Metallgesellschaft AG ( mg technologies AG).
