Čereňany

Čereňany ( until 1927 slovak also " CERENE "; Hungarian Cserenye ) is a municipality in western Slovakia with 1706 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), the Region for Okres Prievidza, part of Trenčín heard.

Geography

The municipality is located in the lower part of the basin Hornonitrianska kotlina on the left bank of Nitra. Southeast and south of the village rises the bird Mountains. The center is located at an altitude of 258 m nm and is nine kilometers from Partizánske and 20 kilometers from Prievidza away.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1329 as Cherimen writing and initially belonged to the manor of Castle Bojnice. Then he came to the castle that Sivý Kameň as a deed of 1388 testifies. The church was built in 1440 and consists of many changes until today. In the 15th century the Pauline kept by Lefantovce part of the village, later there were gender as Dóczy, Lessenyey, Palugyay and Hunyadi.

1828 are listed 84 houses and 583 inhabitants.

  • Roman Catholic Church of the Madeleine, built around 1440 gothic and changed several times, decorated in Baroque style style today
  • Country chateau with a park, originally built around 1640 as a fortress building in the Renaissance style Classicist style in the late 18th century
