Cervelló

Cervello is a Catalan city in the province of Barcelona, in northeastern Spain. It is located in the comarca of Baix Llobregat and belongs to the metropolitan area Area Metropolitana de Barcelona.

About 2,300 ha of the district is covered by forest. The main agricultural products are wine, cereals and fruit. In the last third of the 19th century began a rapid process of industrialization, which led to a significant population growth. The then major industries were glass, cotton and paper processing.

Today, the building, the metal industry and the silk and paper processing forms the economic base of the city. The traditional glass industry is still present to a small extent. In the food segment is the production of Cava of some importance, even if the most famous brand, Rondel, is produced and bottled since 2005 in the corporate headquarters in Codomiu in Sant Sadurní d' Anoia.

The village grew up around the castle Cervello, 1 km south of the present location and mentioned 992, at the driveway to the Ordal Pass.
