César Rodríguez Álvarez

César Rodríguez Álvarez ( born June 29, 1920 in León, Spain, † March 1, 1995 in Barcelona), also known as César Rodríguez or just César, was a Spanish footballer.

With 232 goals in 351 games, he was until March 2012, the scorer of FC Barcelona. Then he was overtaken by the Argentine Lionel Messi. Only three players Telmo Zarra and Hugo Sánchez and Alfredo Di Stéfano are in the list of leading scorer in the Primera División in front of him.

Player

In his youth, César played for SEU de León. In 1939 he already went to FC Barcelona, was there but due to his military service is not used and was seconded to Granada. In 1942 he returned to FC Barcelona. During his time at Barça, he won the Spanish championship 5 times. In 1954 he left Barcelona, leaving his career at FC Perpignan ( 1955-1957 ) and FC Elche ( 1957-1960 ) bar. National

In the Spanish national team, he came from 1945 to 1952 and took 12 times to use without having to be used, at the 1950 World Championships in part. Between 1943 and 1954 he played 10 times for the Catalan football team.

Coach

After his success at FC Elche, he took over Real Zaragoza in 1960, which still eleventh in the Spanish La Liga were in the preseason. César led Zaragoza in his first year to third place. In 1963 he returned as coach for FC Barcelona back, but was unable to repeat his success as a player there and left Barça already after one year.
