Çetin Alp
Çetin Alp ( June 21, 1947 in Malatya, † 18 May, 2004 Istanbul, full name: Çetin Alp Küçükarslan ) was a Turkish singer and participants at the Euro Vision Song Contest 1983 in Munich.
Alp took first time in 1979 on Turkey's preliminary decision to the Euro Vision Song Contest, where he finished 5th. In 1983 Alp again took part in the preliminary round, which he won this time. With the composition Opera ( en: The Opera ) by Aysel Gurel and Buğra Uğur Alp represented Turkey in the Euro Vision Song Contest 1983 in Munich accompanied the group The Short Waves. In Munich occupied Alp and the representative of Spain, flamenco singer Remedios Amaya, the last two places, each with 0 points.
Alp took a short part in the preliminary round in 1983. Buğra Uğur presented him with the finished composition and wanted to win Alp to participate in the singing competition. Aysel Gürel observed in the samples, the operetta-like voice of Alp, after which the idea of a text about the opera music originated. After the victory in the preliminary round, there were protests by the people against the song, the Alp back also led to his illegitimate relationship. Alp complained that the media has never given its successful placements in other music competitions ( in the U.S. and in Bulgaria) media presence. For example, he got after the last place in the Euro Vision Song Contest in the Balkans the prize for the best talent. But the image of the " loser of the Euro Vision" as the singer of the " worst Euro Vision Song Opera " he could not get rid of his life. In Turkey, you mentioned him only in connection with Opera. Alp stated, however, that the Euro Vision participants to forget in Turkey, he and Opera, however, were at least never forget in this way.
Alp died on 18 May 2004 of a heart attack. He was found on the evening of the same day his daughter found dead in his apartment in Istanbul's Kadıköy. Alp suffered a long time from heart problems.
Alp lived in the 1980s in a nine-year relationship with the English -born living in Turkey and famous actress Suna Yildizoglu. Alp left a son and a daughter. The mother of his children was his former wife sermin Küçükarslan.
