CFR Turnu Severin

CFR Turnu Severin was a Romanian football club from Turnu Severin ( Drobeta Turnu Severin today ). The club won the Romanian Football Cup in 1943.

History

CFR Turnu Severin was founded in 1928. At the national game operation of the club took the first time in the season 1936/37, in the newly created Divizia C part, but withdrew in April 1937 from the group West back. Since the Divizia C was held sporadically in the 1930s, the necessary qualifications to Divizia B was not until the year 1939.

After a midfielder placement began in the following season, the most successful period of the club. In the season 1940/41, CFR took first place in Divizia B and rose for the first time in the highest Romanian league, which Divizia A (now League 1) on. Due to the outbreak of the Second World War, the club could no longer take this qualification as the official leagues operation was interrupted. In the unofficial championship of the season 1941/42, the club won the second place behind Juventus Bucharest. The greatest success of the club's history followed a year later by a 4-0 win against Sportul Studenţesc the club won the Romanian football cup 1943.

When, after the war ended the game operation in 1946, was resumed, CFR was filed against the previously achieved qualifications not in the Divizia A, but in the Divizia B. There, the club struggled to avoid relegation, before he had to leave the league in 1949. After renaming in Locomotiva Turnu Severin beginning of the 1950s succeeded in the season 1951, the resurgence. Locomotiva could keep up with changing success for several years in Divizia B, he descended the club at the end of season 1956 again.

After another name change to its old name CFR Turnu Severin in 1957, the club played for one year in Divizia C. In 1958 he was disbanded and replaced by the FC Drobeta Turnu Severin, who was again dissolved itself in July 2011.
