Charles Burnham (musician)

Charles " Charlie" Burnham ( born November 23, 1950 in New York City ) is an American jazz violinist and occasionally mandolin and Mandoloncellospieler.

Life and work

Burnham heard since the 1980s at different bands of James Blood Ulmer ( Odyssey, 1983, Live at the Caravan of Dreams, 1986, Forbidden Blues 1996 Bad Blood in the City: The Piety Street Sessions, 2007). From 1986 to 1991 he was a member of the String Trio of New York. He also worked with Mario Pavone, Peter Apfelbaum, Steven Bernstein, Ted Daniel, Medeski, Martin & Wood (The Dropper 2000), Marcus Rojas and Susie Ibarra Trio ( with Cooper -Moore ). In the field of jazz Burnham worked 1974-2011 at 42 recording sessions, including Cassandra Wilson ( Blue Light ' til Dawn 1993 New Moon Daughter), Gina Leishman, Rob Reddy and Steve Swell ( Suite for Players, Listeners and other Dreamers ). 2011 was the trio album by Charlie Burnham with Kenny Wollesen and Tony Jones, Pitch, Rhythm and Consciousness. Burnham, who lives in New York City, leads the quartet Hidden City.
