Charles Champlain Townsend

Charles Champlain Townsend ( * November 24, 1841 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, † July 10, 1910 in New Brighton, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1889 and 1891 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Charles Townsend attended the common schools and graduated from the Western University of Pennsylvania, now the University of Pittsburgh after. He then introduced wire rivets and nails her. During the Civil War he served two years in the army of the Union. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1888 he was in the 25th electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of James Thompson Maffett on March 4, 1889.

Since Townsend renounced in 1890 on another candidacy, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1891. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, he resumed his previous career again. He died on July 10, 1910 in New Brighton, where he was also buried.
