Life

Karl married on August 10, 1687 in Potsdam Maria Amalia von Brandenburg- Schwedt, the daughter of the " Great Elector " Frederick William of Brandenburg. The marriage remained childless. He died as the last son of his father unexpectedly at the leaves, so that the line of Mecklenburg- Güstrow Mecklenburg royal house became extinct after the death of the Father ( 1695). His wife lost due to this fate beat her child.

His brother in law, Duke Adolf Frederick II, though laid claim to the vacant part of the country, but could not prevail. Unclear legal conditions led to a long-term succession dispute in Mecklenburg, which was settled in 1701 in Hamburg comparison with a reorganization of the country.
