Charo

Charo ( born March 13, 1951 in Murcia, Spain, María Rosario Pilar Martínez real name Molina Gutiérrez de los Perales Santa Ana Romanguera y de la Hinojosa clicks) is an American singer, actress and classical guitarist.

Career

Charo learned to play the classical guitar with Andrés Segovia flamenco and was later twice in Guitar Player magazine as "Best Flamenco Guitarist " award. In 1966 she married the 66 -year-old orchestra leader Xavier Cugat, who took them to the USA. At first they met with the orchestra of her husband in New York City and Las Vegas. From the mid- 1960s, she began performing in the U.S. entertainment shows.

After the Spanish official birth documents Charo was born in 1941. The matter ended up in 1977 before a U.S. court. They claimed to have entered their age wrong to get married then 15 -year-old much older Cougat legally. Finally, in 1951 after swearing their parents certified as year of birth. After they had obtained the U.S. citizenship in the same year, she divorced Cugat.

In the 1970s they also like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Ray Charles and their own shows in Las Vegas had. Charo appeared at this time in various TV formats, to guest roles in series such as The Love Boat and Fantasy Iceland came appearances on numerous talk shows, including 16 alone in Johnny Carson's Tonight Show. In addition, she recorded the theme song of the TV series The Love Boat in disco sound and 1981, the ABBA Chiquitita ballad.

During the 1980s, Charo drew largely withdrew from show business and moved to Hawaii. However, they continued to perform occasionally on television shows such as The New Hollywood Squares. It was not until the late 1990s, she appeared more frequently in evidence, including campaigns for Sprint Nextel and Geico. In 2004, she starred in the reality show The Surreal Life.

In 2008, she released the single España Cañi.
