Château-Chalon AOC

Château- Chalon is a wine region within the wine region of Jura. On May 29th 1936, the area enjoys the status of an Appellation d' Origine ( AOC short ). The area is located about 10 km north of Lons -le- Saunier in the Jura. In 2005, a total of 46 hectares of vineyards were planted. Were produced while around 1,500 hectoliters of white wine with the styles of Vin Jaune. On the label of this wine, the name of Vin Jaune is not explicitly listed.

Bottled wines are in a special format bottles, 0.62 cl bottle called comprehensive Clavelin. The wine is an excellent accompaniment of Comté, a cheese specialty of the Jura.

The vineyards are ( the eponymous municipality ) Domblans, Menétru -le- Vignoble and Nevy -sur -Seille distributed to the four municipalities Château- Chalon.

Varieties

The grape savagnin (sometimes called Naturé ), is the only one for the very specific white wine called Vin Jaune variety accepted throughout the Jura wine region. The reading starts very late in order to achieve the required must weight of 204 g of sugar per liter in usually. Therefore, many harvests begin in the month of November; continental climate with a dry summer makes for a healthy grapes until late in the autumn.
