Chenôve

Chenôve is a commune with 14,014 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Côte- d'Or in the Burgundy region.

Geography

Since 1 January 2000, the suburb of Dijon to the community association Grand Dijon heard. Chenôve is the third- most populous municipality in the Côte-d'Or department.

History

Chenôve has little historical tradition, the main development took place in the 20th century. After the First World War, many jobs have been created by the railway. During the Second World War there were in Chenôve organized resistance against the occupation. In 1944, the place of air strikes was concerned, on 11 September 1944, he was liberated by the Allies. The strong population growth from the 1950s led to a housing shortage, which should be averted with the construction of new housing. In 1973, the design concept was completed.
