Cheseaux- Noreaz is a municipality in the district of Jura-Nord Vaudois in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.

Geography

Cheseaux- Noreaz located 3 km east of the district capital Yverdon- les- Bains ( straight line ). The hamlet Cheseaux extends on a terrace on the southern shore of Lake Neuchâtel, while Noreaz around 100 m is located on the northern slope of the Montela a scenic location above the lake level.

The area of ​​6.1 km ² large municipality area includes a section on the southern shore of Lake Neuchâtel. The communal land extends southward from the lake over a broad reedy shoreline strips and a steep slope up to the terrace of Cheseaux- Noreaz. History

The first mention of Cheseaux was in 1174 under the name Chesaut, later appeared also the name Chesaulx. The Old French word Chesal refers to the ruins of a building. Noreaz is first mentioned in 1177 as Nobraia, derived from the Old French word noier ( walnut).

Cheseaux and Noreaz belonged since the Middle Ages to the rule Belmont. With the conquest of Vaud by Bern in 1536 Cheseaux and Noreaz came under the administration of the bailiwick of Yverdon. From 1789 to 1798 Cheseaux- Noreaz was placed under the direct management of Bern. Attractions

Cheseaux- Noreaz does not have its own church, it belongs to the parish Yverdon. The manor Champ- Pittet was built in 1789-1791 in the style of classicism, on behalf of Frederick Haldimand. Today it houses a nature center of Pro Natura.
