Chipindo is a comune ( município ) in the south of the Angolan province of Huíla, near the town of Matala.
The data on population are different. In the final phase of the Angolan civil war in 2002 Chipindo had, according to the MSF 10,000 inhabitants after 4000 ( mostly children ) died of starvation as a result of war-related famine. Other sources report that in 2004 the population rose to 61,000 Chipindos after about 21,000 IDPs had returned.
