Geography

The place is located at the northern foot of the Imperial Forest in 539 m asl Neighboring towns are Bukovany and Dasnice in the east, Horni Pochlovice and Kaceřov in the west and Lítov and Habartov in the north. North of the village was the mining of lignite, there is now a mining landscape.

History

Kulm was first documented in 1341, but is probably older. Since the 13th century there was a wooden chapel with a statue of the Virgin Mary. In its place was built in 1400 a wooden church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene. After the church was burned in 1429 by the Hussites, Henry of tearing Green had a church built of stone.

During the 15th century, Kulm developed into a patch. The place came into the possession of the Cross with the Red Star, who built a provost. 1651 made ​​him Archbishop and Grand Master Ernst Adalbert von Harrach to town with the right to wear their own coat of arms. By the Archbishop and Grand Master Johann Friedrich von Wallenstein was a Rectory in the collection of the parish. 1666 erected the Cross with the Red Star to the southeast and a Coming in 1690 began construction of the baroque pilgrimage church. The official name of the village was changed to Chlum nad Ohri. After the Velvet Revolution was the resumption of Marian pilgrimages by the faithful from the Upper Palatinate and the Czech Republic; there was a development association.
