Chotoviny

Chotoviny is a town with 1,266 inhabitants in the region of South Bohemia, (Czech Republic).

History

On July 2, 1266, the village was first mentioned in a legal dispute of Hynek z Vlašima and Racek z Tožic by the citation of witnesses Bořislav z Chotovin. The next written record dates back to 1318. Presumably this village was before. In the notes of the parish chronicle is noted that the church had already been built in the years 990-1000. Excavations also skeletons and jewelry have been found from the early Christian era. Originally the site of Chotoviny, a settlement around the church and Vlkančice south of the castle. Since the 16th century the place Chotoviny is only mentioned.

When King John of Luxembourg in debt at the Lords of Rosenberg, 1354 via he appropriated them dominion Chotoviny who thought this up in the 16th century. 1407 built the Rosenbergs at the site of today's castle a stronghold. In 1611 it was sold together with the village on Bohuslav Vít ze Rzavého of the family of Vítové ze Rzavého. More significant were the owner of Wratislaw Mitrowitz and the Vienna Cardinal Christoph Anton von Migazzi that the place was in 1768 and 1770 to 1780 built the castle and the church was radically renovated.

1806 acquired the rule of the local citizens, Jan Nádherný Prague, which was later raised to the peerage and his descendants until the end of World War II remained owners. Baron Nádherný had the castle rebuilt in the neo-Renaissance style, and put on the castle grounds. The church was rebuilt again by its resources.

Since 1871, the city is connected to the rail network.
