Christian Bäckman

Christian Bäckman ( born April 28, 1980 in Alingsås ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who is under contract with Frölunda HC of the Elitserien since 2009.

Career

Christian Backman began his career as a hockey player in Västra Frölunda HC of the youth, in which he was active until 1998. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1998 in the first round than a total of 24 players from the St. Louis Blues. After the defender initially played four years in the Elitserien for Frölunda, he gave in the 2002/03 season his debut in the National Hockey League for the Blues, for which he was on the ice, the following six seasons long. The only exception was the 2004/05 season, when the links Sagittarius played during the lockout in his Swedish homeland with his former club Frölunda HC, with whom he was for the first time in his career, Swedish Champion.
