Christian Heinrich von Nagel

Christian Heinrich von Nagel ( born February 28, 1803 in Stuttgart, † October 27, 1882 in Ulm ) was a German mathematician of the 19th century, mainly dealt with geometric themes.

After attending high school came from Nail 1817 in the Evangelical Theological Seminary Blaubeuren. 1821 to 1825 was followed by a four year degree in theology at the Evangelical pin Tübingen. After graduating Nagel, who had already interested early for mathematics, was a teacher of mathematics and natural sciences at the Lyceum and at the secondary school of Tübingen. Already in 1826 he earned his doctorate at the Faculty of Arts on the topic De triangulis rectangulis ex algebraica aequatione construendis ( About right triangles that can be constructed with the aid of an algebraic equation). By 1830, Nagel worked as a lecturer in Tübingen. In that year he moved to Ulm, where he received a better -paid position as a teacher at the Gymnasium Ulm; later he became rector of affiliated real institution.

The best-known research results belong to nail triangle geometry. One of the excellent points of the triangle, the nail - point, was named after him.
