Chuck Cooper (basketball)

Charles H. "Chuck" Cooper ( born September 29, 1926 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; † 5 February 1984) was an American professional basketball player.

Life

Cooper was the first African-American player in the NBA history, who was elected in 1950 as part of the NBA Drafts from a club.

After he played until 1950 for the Westinghouse High School in Pittsburgh and the NCAA Teams Duquesne University and West Virginia State College, took him to the Boston Celtics Red Auerbach. After four years in Boston, Cooper moved to the Milwaukee Hawks before ending his career at the Ft. Wayne Pistons finished.

During his NBA career, Cooper came to a total of 409 missions, scoring 2725 points and 2439 rebounds collected, which means an average of 6.5 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
