Chugoku Shimbun

The Chugoku Shimbun (Japanese中国 新闻, dt " newspaper of the Chugoku region ") is a local Japanese newspaper based in Hiroshima. It uses the Chūgoku region with market share in the prefectures of Hiroshima, Yamaguchi, Shimane, and Okayama. The Morning Edition reached a circulation of about 700,000, the evening edition of 70,000 copies daily.

History

The newspaper was founded as Chūgoku (中国) on 5 May 1892 by her publisher Yamamoto Saburō and in 1908 renamed the Chugoku Shimbun. At the atomic bombing of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, the newspaper lost 113 employees, and the publishing house and all their equipment. On 9 August, the sheet could reappear with the help of other newspaper publishers.
