Chvalkovice (Vyškov District)

Chvalkovice ( German Chwalkowitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located ten kilometers south-west of Morkovice - Slížany and belongs to Okres Vyškov.

Geography

Chvalkovice located at the southern foot of the Hradisko in the Litenčické Hills, The village lies on the source basin of the creek Chvalkovický creek. North-east rises the Lichov ( 381 m ) to the southeast Jezírka ( 388 m) and north-west the Stara Mountain.

Neighboring towns are Zdravá Voda in the north, Kozojedsko and Nítkovice in the northeast, Nemochovice in the east, Malínky and Brankovice the southeast, Dobročkovice, Nové Zámky and Nesovice in the south, Milonice, Uhřice, Komorov and Rošťoutky the southwest, Bohaté Málkovice in the west and Nové Hvězdlice and Stare Hvězdlice in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of Chvalkovice took place in 1347 in the wake of the sale of domination. The church was built around 1374th Two years later, a bath house and in 1389 the parsonage was built. The oldest town seal is from 1661. In 1682 a brewery and malt house was put into operation in Chvalkovice. 1689 a school was established. During an outbreak of the plague in 1715 killed almost all inhabitants. 1780, a new cemetery was created in the northern outskirts and the old canceled at the church.

After the abolition of patrimonial Chvalkovice formed in 1850 a municipality in the district team Wischau. 1890, established a volunteer fire department. Between 1949 and 1959 the village belonged to Okres Bučovice and returned to its repeal in 1960 Okres Vyškov. 1985 Chvalkovice was connected with Nemochovice to Brankovice. 1990 Chvalkovice broke off again and formed its own community. The volunteer fire department disbanded in 2002.

  • Cemetery Chapel of the Holy Cross, built in 1814 for Johann Pagatsch of Paburg, under the chapel is the tomb of the Knights of Paburg

  • Sculptural group of St. Cyril and Methodius in the village square
  • Statue of the Virgin Mary
  • Peststatuengruppe St. John of Nepomuk, St. Roch, St. Sebastian and St. Rosalia at the village square, built in 1718
  • Castle Komorov, northeast of the village, built in 1811-1812 in the Empire style for Johann Pagatsch of Paburg, it is currently in a ruinous state. The castle and the park are not publicly available.
