Cinema Digital Sound

Cinema Digital Sound (CDS ) is a 1990, introduced by Kodak and Optical Radiation Corporation digital audio recording system. CDS is the first sound recording system in which all stages of audio capture and playback are digitized.

CDS has, as Dolby Digital on six separate audio channels for the 5.1 schema and two lanes; five tracks were independently of each other (left, center, right, surround left, surround right ), the sixth (bass ) channel frequency was limited. For the compression delta modulation is used.

CDS sound could be played only in appropriately equipped theaters; the method is no longer used. Today, current digital Sound Mix in the cinema are Dolby Digital ( from 1992), DTS (from 1993) and SDDS (from 1993).
