Cisatracurium corresponds to the cis -cis isomer of the racemate atracurium. It does not lead to histamine release, in contrast to atracurium. The reduction will be 80-90% by Hofmann elimination and only to a small extent by nonspecific esterases in the plasma. The achieved levels of laudanosine are lower than for atracurium. As drug cisatracurium is used primarily as benzenesulfonic acid salt ( besylate ) is used. The name was from Burroughs Wellcome (now GlaxoSmithKline) designed. The preparations Nimbex name stands for " excellent neuromuscular blockers " (see muscle relaxant ) ( engl. excellent Neuromuscular blocker ).
