Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria

GERB ( Bulgarian ГЕРБ ) is a Bulgarian conservative party. The current chairman is the former Prime Minister of Boyko Borisov; Deputy Chairman Tsvetan Tsvetanov.

The initial word GERB continues in Bulgarian composed of the initial letters of Graschdani sa Ewropejsko Raswitie na Balgaria / Graždani za Ewropejsko Razwitie na Bălgarija / Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria ( Bulg " Граждани за европейско развитие на България "). History

The party was founded on 3 December 2006 and went from a same movement that was founded by Borisov in May 2006, produced. Shortly after its founding GERB was the leading political force in Bulgaria. In May 2007, she won the elections for the European Parliament. In the nationwide local elections in October 2007 GERB received the most votes of citizens in the state and the majority in some cities.

The following members of the Group of the European People's Party in the European Parliament were elected from the list of GERB 2007: Rumjana Jeleva, Member of the Executive Board of the European People's Party; Nikolay Mladenov, Stavreva, Vladimir Urutschew, Dushana Zdrawkowa.

At the 2009 European elections GERB came in without a coalition with other parties and was able to win with 24.36 percent. This brought GERB in the new European Parliament mandates a five ( Rumjana Jeleva, Vladimir Urutschew, Iliana Ivanova, Emil Stoyanov and Marija Nedeltschewa ).

For the Bulgarian parliamentary elections on 5 July 2009 GERB led the Blue coalition first talks on joint lists, but failed. Besides Boyko Borisov as Prime Minister will occupy the most important ministerial posts Tsvetan Tsvetanov as interior minister, Rumjana Jeleva as Foreign Minister, Simeon Djankov as finance minister and Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Mladenov as defense minister, Traicho Traikow as an economic and energy minister and Margarita Popova as Minister of Justice.

On April 2011, the party Dela announced their resolution. Your party leadership and three aldermen of the city of Nessebar then requested membership of the GERB party.

In the parliamentary elections in May 2013, the party won 31 percent of the vote, making it the strongest force in the Narodno Sabranie without, however, have an absolute majority.
