ÄŒitluk, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Čitluk (Latin Aequum ) is a place and the associated community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the Federation of Bosnia - Herzegovina. Čitluk located in the western part of the Canton of Herzegovina -Neretva.

Geography

The community is geographically characterized mainly by the deeply cut parallel to the Neretva valley extending forested mountains and through the ridge Apparition Hill in the south. The municipality has a total area of ​​approximately 181 square kilometers.

The community Čitluk bordered to the north on the community of Široki Brijeg, on the northeast by the municipality of Mostar, to the south and southeast by Čapljina and on the southwest by Ljubuški.

History

  • Around the middle of the 1st century veterans of the Legio VII Claudia and Legio XI Claudia were settled in Aequum ( Čitluk ).
  • Arrival of the Slavs in the year 626 in the Roman provinces of Dalmatia and Pannonia.
  • From the 7th century under the rule of local Croatian princes.
  • From 925 - 1102 in the Kingdom of Croatia.
  • From 1918 Čitluk belongs to the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. In 1929 the name was changed to Kingdom of Yugoslavia.
  • 1939-1941 for Banovina Hrvatska belonging.
  • 1941-1945 in the Independent State of Croatia.
  • 1945-1992 in the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the ( Socialist ) Federal Republic of Yugoslavia ( SFRY).
  • 1995 Peace of Dayton. Čitluk is part of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Traffic

Due to the major roads Mostar - Ljubuški and Siroki Brijeg - Čapljina the community region has a well-connected. The railway line Ploce - Mostar runs along the Neretvatales on the southeast border of the village with the railway station in Biletici Polje.
