Parramatta is located in the direct extension of the port about 20 km from the city center in Outer Sydney. The administrative headquarters of the council is located in the Parramatta district in the center of the LGA.
History
1788 the first settlement in what is now the city of Parramatta was founded. 1855 was built between Sydney and Parramatta, the first railway line of New South Wales. Today's suburb of Sydney at that time was an important center of agriculture. 1861 was the place the status of a municipality. 1867 Borough of Parramatta was founded in 1938 and got the municipality awarded city rights.
Culture and sights
Worth seeing are the ten acre Lake Parramatta, the Ferry ( Ferry Wharf ), the Macarthur Girls High School ( opened in 1934 ) and the Church Street with St John's Anglican Cathedral, St John's Cemetery and the Town Hall.
