Claudia Eder

Claudia Eder ( born February 7, 1948 in Augsburg ) is a German opera, recital and concert singer in the vocal range mezzo- soprano.

Life and artistic work

Claudia Eder studied voice and cello at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main. Her studies continued it in Milan and Budapest. Singing teachers were Marianne Sheikh, Elsa Cavelti, Jeno Sipos and Maria Castellani. At the age of 25 she made ​​her debut in the role of La Muse / Niklausse in The Tales of Hoffmann. It was followed by engagements at the Hessian State Theatre in Wiesbaden and at the Staatstheater am Gaertnerplatz. Further stations were the German Opera on the Rhine in Dusseldorf and the Volksoper Vienna. Numerous guest appearances have taken Eder to the major European and non-European music venues, including Barcelona, Madrid, London, Turin, Venice, Rome, Paris, Geneva, Antwerp, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Tokyo. She appeared with, among others, at the Salzburg Festival, the Vienna Festival, the Schwetzingen Festival, the Donaueschingen Music Festival and the Schleswig -Holstein Music Festival.

1988 Claudia Eder became a professor of singing at the Hochschule für Musik Mainz. There they founded in 2004 the International Summer School Singing Summer and in 2010 Baroque vocal, a program of excellence for young opera and concert singer. She also gives master classes at home and abroad.

In 2009, the department was awarded song of the prize for outstanding achievements in their studies, teaching and artistic development work under their direction in the Excellence of Rhineland- Palatinate.

They also worked since 1991 as a project manager, director and vocal coach for the International Festival of Young Opera Singers of the Chamber Opera Schloss Rheinberg.

In addition to its various tasks, Claudia Eder has worked on national and international stages as a recital and concert singer. Her repertoire ranges from the Renaissance through the Baroque to the Modern, and includes the genera Opera, Lied and Oratorio.

Claudia Eder is a member of the Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz and the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.
