Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg

The Chamber Opera Schloss Rheinberg is initiated and managed by the composer Siegfried Matthus international opera festival in Rheinberg, where young artists as a result of an audition competition opens up the possibility to rehearse opera roles under the guidance of mentors and list these. The festival takes place since 1991 every year in the months of July / August. The main venue is the restored Palace Theatre in 2000. Open-air venues include the hedge theater in the castle park and the castle courtyard.

Festival

On September 8, 1990, the Arts and Cultural Association eV Rheinberg founded under the direction of Siegfried Matthus the Chamber Opera Schloss Rheinberg. The first opera performed was of the Love and Death of Cornet Christoph Rilke, Siegfried Matthus and was held in 1991. Since that time, the Chamber Opera presented over 70 opera productions. Conductors and directors work with the young singers opera roles in a professional environment and support the festival as members of the Board of Trustees. Among them were the conductor Daniel Barenboim, Kurt Masur and Christian Thielemann and the directors Götz Friedrich, August Ever thing, Harry Kupfer and Axel Köhler.

The festival is cooperating with the RIAS Symphony Orchestra, the Junge Philharmonie Brandenburg, the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt ( Oder), Brandenburg Philharmonic Potsdam, the Berlin Radio Choir, the Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra and the Braunschweig State Orchestra since its inception.

In 2000, the restored Palace Theatre opened its doors to the public. A year earlier the Heckentheather, a summer theater in the 18th century in the castle park, has been reconstructed. The rear of the theater has a 750 m² area and nearly 1000 seats. The Chamber Opera Schloss Rheinberg used also for its performances of the St. Lawrence Church and the Hall of Mirrors Rheinberger castle.

The artistic director of the festival is Siegfried Matthus. Claudia Eder is the mentor for voice and the director of the Master Classes. Rainer Schwarz is the CEO and Festival Manager.

Singer

The Chamber Opera Schloss Rheinberg held annually in Berlin, the International Singing Competition Chamber Opera Schloss Rheinberg, with over 450 participants annually. The winners get various parts throughout the several opera productions and concerts in the festival.
