Club Atlético Lanús

Club Atlético Lanús is an Argentine football club from Lanús, an industrial suburb of the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires Province, which plays in the Primera División ( first Argentine league).

History

In 1978 the club reached the biggest financial crisis with a debt mountain of around two million U.S. dollars in debt. Only through the tremendous fan support, it was Lanús possible financially to regenerate. Within three years the number of members from 1978 to 1981 rose from 2,000 to 10,000. With the win the Copa Conmebol in 1996 Lanús reached under coach Héctor Cúper the first time a major title. 2007, the club won for the first time in club history, the Argentine championship. Guarantee for the success was the striker Jose Sand, who scored as many goals in 15 league games.

From the 2008/ 09 season the team of Luis Zubeldía was trained, even those only born in 1981. Zubeldía had to quit because of bone inflammation in his knee in 2004 his own professional career with Lanús.
