Coat of arms of Guyana

The coat of arms of Guyana was adopted on 25 February 1966 by the Parliament, after Queen Elizabeth II had bestowed it on January 21st of the same year in Guyana.

The central motif of the crest is the coat of arms in the center, on which the center in silver three blue wavy lines are shown, which symbolize the three main rivers in Guyana. Over those three waves, there is a water lily, including a Hoatzin.

The shield is held by two jaguars as a plate holder. The right holds a hoe, which left a cane. This symbolizes the two main agricultural industries in the country. On the escutcheon is placed a golden helmet with both sides besteckten jewels and blue and white helmet covers. In the same colored Helmwulst put a feather headdress. This symbolizes the indigenous population, the jewels on the side of the helmet to the mining industry of the nation. The helmet itself stands for the close connection to the UK.

Under the shield is a silver banner with the motto Guyana National: One People, One Nation, One Destiny ( eng., " One People, One Nation, One Destiny " )
