The Cobungra River is a river in northern Gippsland in the east of the Australian state of Victoria.

It rises on the slopes of the ski resort of Mount Hotham and Mount hole and is a source Mitta Mitta River of River, it forms together with the Big River. The two meet headwaters at Anglers Rest on the Omeo Highway in the Alpine National Park each other.

Today's historic bridge of the Omeo Highway at Anglers Rest stands on the site, formerly a ford called Jack 's Crossing led to the over the river. This ford was named after a foreman at the nearby Mount Wills sheep station, who drowned when he tried to escort some pack horses through the currently flood leading river in 1856.

The Cobungra River is known as a good water fish for trout. He was one of only thirteen world's fishing grounds, which was mentioned in the fly fishing television series A River Somewhere.
