Colorado Desert

The Colorado Desert (English Colorado Desert ) is a part of the Sonoran Desert and extends from the southeastern part of the U.S. state of California to cross the border into Mexico. The approximately 40,000 km ² desert is located in a valley that extends from the San Bernardino Mountains to the Colorado River. A portion of the Colorado Desert lies in a valley below sea level, at the deepest point, the Salton Sea spreads.

In the Colorado Desert are the California State Park Anza -Borrego Desert and the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument. The Joshua Tree National Park is located in the north of the area in the transition to subsequent, higher Mojave Desert.
