Commune I (Niamey)

I Niamey is one of five arrondissements of Niger's capital, Niamey. Niamey has 116 537 inhabitants I ( 2001).

Geography

I Niamey is located in the northeast of the city on the left bank of the River Niger. To the west of Niamey I is the arrondissement Niamey II, in the south side of the river the district Niamey Niamey V. I is the most important for trade Arrondissement Niamey. Here you will find among others, three of the seven major markets of the city.

Niamey I is divided into thirteen districts, ten administrative villages, three traditional villages, a hamlet and a warehouse. The thirteen neighborhood in Niamey I are Présidentielle Guard, Republican Guard, Gendarmerie 25, Goudel, Hôpital, Kouara Kano, Koubia, Lossa Goungou, Platform I Platform II, recasement Yantala, Yantala -Bas and Yantala skin. The ten administrative villages in Niamey I are Gabougoura, Gorou Banda, Goudel Gorou, Kossey, Soudouré Peul, Soudouré Zarma level, Tondi Kouarey, Tondi Kouarey Peul, Tondibia Gorou and Tondibia Zarma. The three traditional villages in Niamey I are Fondoga, Koubia Kaina and Tondi Kouarey. Addition of the hamlet Patalpate and the bearing Tondibiah.

History

The city of Niamey in 1984 divided into five districts. In 1989, the 1st and the 2nd district to a municipality: together within Niamey (French commune urbaine ). This borough also had the name I Niamey and included up to 1996, the territory of the present arrondissements Niamey Niamey I and II as well as a part of today's Arrondissement Niamey III. In its present territory extent Niamey is I since 1996. 2010 the boroughs Niamey were converted into arrondissements.
