The Communications Language is a proposal for a constructed language of Joseph Schipfer. Created in 1839, it is one of the oldest occupied artificial languages ​​.

History

Joseph Schipfer ( born April 8, 1761 Ransbach, † January 27, 1843 in Niederwalluf ) was a landowner from the village Niederwalluf in the Rheingau in Wiesbaden. Dated 20 February 1840, a letter from him is obtained, which is entitled " General appeal to the compassionate humanity." This Schipfer describes the suffering of the French inhabitants of the areas around the Rhone and the Saone River. In this letter, the author also provides a brochure on its " general communications or world language " before. More brochures, for which he also solicits support from the Duke deal with a grammar of this language and teaching materials for adults and children aged 12 to 14 years. Also a description of how a live burial could be avoided, belongs to his offer. With the profit from the sale of its brochures Schipfer proposes to support the above mentioned French needy. Perhaps this is one reason for the refusal of the Duke.
