Conan II, Duke of Brittany

Conan II ( * after 1018; † December 11, 1066 in Château- Gontier ) was Duke of Brittany in 1040. He was the son of Duke Alain III. and Bertha of Blois. His father was poisoned when he was still a child, so that he, until 1062, was under the guardianship of his uncle Odo Penthièvre the first 22 years of his reign. Rivallon de Combourg led an uprising against Conan, which was supported by Wilhelm II, Duke of Normandy. Conan II died in 1066 as his father to poison, as the instigator his opponent William was suspected.

Conan II was buried in the monastery church of Saint- Melaine at Rennes.

The domination of the Brittany fell to his brother Hoel II, Count of Nantes and Cornwall, with the Conan's sister Hawisa († 1072 ) was married.
