Constitution of Nagorno-Karabakh

The Constitution of Nagorno-Karabakh was adopted in the internationally unrecognized Republic of Nagorno Karabakh through a nationwide referendum on 10 December 2006. 90 077 voters participated in the referendum, of which voted 77 279 or 85.79 % of those for and 0.61% against the principal Act.

This constitution formed the government of Nagorno-Karabakh as an independent, democratic state based on social justice and the rule of law. The term Nagorno-Karabakh and Artsakh are the same since then. Stepanakert was determined as the capital of the state. The violence comes from the people who practice it directly through the choice of government representatives. Provisions that relate to changes in the constitutional status or for alteration of boundaries will be subject to a referendum.
