Corneliu Papură

Corneliu " Papi " Papură ( born September 5, 1973 in Craiova, Dolj county ) is a former Romanian football player and current coach. He completed a total of 236 games in the Romanian Divizia A, 26 games in the French Division 1, 25 games in the Israeli first league Ligat ha Al and the 17 games in the Chinese Super League. He also took part in the World Cup 1994.

Playing career

Papură began playing football in his home town of Craiova Universitatea Craiova at. In 1991, he moved up into the first team who had previously won the Romanian championship. His first try at the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A, he played on 21 June 1992 in Rapid Bucharest. In Universitatea Craiova Papură spent most of his career and stood there a total of four times under contract. He was already in the 1992/93 season first-team regular and celebrated at the end of the season when he won the Romanian Cup the biggest success of his career.

After playing for Romanian Universitatea Craiova championship with always, he took the plunge abroad and joined in 1996 the French club Stade Rennes, who played in Division 1. Papură was a regular player and managed to avoid relegation. Due to an injury but he did not thereafter be used and changed over the course of the 1998/99 season back to Craiova. Here he found his way back to its former strength. However, Universitatea Craiova was no longer one of the leading Romanian teams, but struggled merely to avoid relegation. In May 2001, sparked Gigi Neţoiu, the patron of the association, on the contracts with Corneliu Papură and Gabriel Popescu. The two players joined FC Naţional Bucharest, which was coached by her former teammates Cosmin Olăroiu.

In autumn 2001 Papură FC Naţional was loaned to Beitar Jerusalem, where he debuted in the first Israeli League on 5 November 2001 in the away match at Maccabi Tel Aviv. This stay abroad also did not last long, because he already returned in May 2002 back to Romania after he had done with Beitar relegation. In July 2002 Papură signed with Universitatea Craiova again and was promoted there to the Team Captain. As part of a training camp, he threw himself in July 2004 with coach Mircea Rednic, who then took off his captain's armband. After four games of the season 2004/ 05 Papură was loaned to the end of August 2004, after Cyprus AEL Limassol. After Universitatea Craiova had slipped during the first round end of the table, took club president Pavel Badea as coach and brought Papură in January 2005 ahead of AEL Limassol back. But even with the support of only one could win in the second round to be won, so that all the players of the club received the release, as the descent into the Divizia B was certain. Universitatea Craiova Papură left with two games left in the season and ventured in July 2005 to move to China for the second-rate team Changchun Yatai. With this he succeeded in the ten remaining matches in the first promotion to the Chinese Super League. In the 2006 season he played for the Chinese second division side Guangzhou Pharmaceutical FC and returned to Romania at the end. There he joined the second half of the 2006/07 season again FC Naţional Bucharest and ended after the descent of the club from the League 1 in May 2007 his active career.

Coaching career

On 8 June 2007 Corneliu Papură was appointed as the new manager of FC Naţional, which changed its name prior to the start of the second division season 2007/08 FC Progresul Bucharest. The commitment, however, was already completed in the course of the first round in 2007 /08. Following the appointment of Ovidiu Stîngă for Universitatea Craiova sports director of Papură the end of November 2007 Trainer of primavara Craiova, the playing in the fourth division youth team of Universitatea in which he replaced Bon Dragoş. After his semi-annual contract was not renewed in May 2008, Daniel Mogoşanu took over as coach at primavara Papură and began working as a players' agent. In September 2009, Daniel Mogoşanu was fired as coach of the first team of Universitatea Craiova and again took the second team, which now took the name primavara Craiova in the Liga III. After six defeats in six league games, he was replaced on 19 October 2009 by Corneliu Papură. As early January 2010 Mark Wotte new coach of Universitatea Craiova was Papură assumed the duties of assistant coach and handed primavara Craiova to his successor Petrişor Bondrea. After Wotte early May was released in 2010, Papură released his contract on also. He took over in July 2010 as coach at Alro Slatina, a Neuaufsteiger in the Liga II, where he was assisted by Daniel Mogoşanu as an assistant coach. After Alro was able to achieve only three draws 2011/12 in the first six league games of the season, Papură was released on 26 September 2011 the second-bottom and replaced by Mogoşanu. From October to December 2012, he supervised the local rivals FC Olt Slatina.

In August 2013 Papură was initially a youth coach at CSU Craiova, beginning of October 2013 assistant coach of Ovidiu Stîngă at the first team in the League II

National

Papură denied a total of 12 games for the Romanian national football team, without scoring a goal. He made his debut on February 13, 1994 against the United States. Coach Anghel Iordănescu appointed him to the squad of the Football World Cup 1994 in the USA, where he was deployed twice.

In 11 games for the Romanian Under-21 national football team, he scored 2 goals.

Family

Papură is married to the former long-distance runner Lelia Deselnicu since 1998. The couple has two children.

Awards

On 25 March 2008 Papură was " sporty Meritul " III by Romanian President Traian Basescu for the achievements in the national team with the Order of Merit. Class excellent.
