Craig is an American city in Colorado. In 2010 this had Home Rule Municipality 9464 inhabitants. It is the most populous city in Moffat County and its county seat.

History

At the mouth of Fortificaton Creek in the Yampa River, which was known as Bear River at that time, there was before the foundation of Craig's attempts to establish a settlement. 1878 Windsor included some ranches, the trading post Peck 's store and the crossing of the Yampa River with the name Himley 's Ford. 1885 was the Yampa office.

Craig was founded in 1889 by William H. Tucker and named after Rev. William Bayard Craig, one of the financial supporters of the city's founding.
