Crimson Thunder (English for " Purple Thunder " ) is the fourth studio album by the Swedish power metal band Hammerfall. It was released in 2002 on Nuclear Blast. For the album, the band during, recorded through for the live album One Crimson Night concert in Gothenburg was awarded on 20 February 2003 with a gold record.
Formation
The recordings for the first album with Charlie Bauerfeind as producers, lasted about seven weeks, and were towards the end of July 2002 completed. The band was first completed ahead of schedule, which found the band members as very unusual.
Originally it was planned, a limited edition of the album shall be included a comic book by Jan Oidium, who had long been preoccupied with the idea of a Hammerfall comics, published 1,000 copies of the limited edition of 10,000 pieces hardcover Hammerfall comics with a copy of Crimson Thunder.
In a subsequent music video for Hearts on Fire, the Swedish curling team plays with. The clip was recorded for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.
Title
The album's title refers to blood flowing through the veins. It also alludes to the cover, can be seen on both the purple sky, and lightning and thunder.

Bonus Track (Europe, Brazil)
In the Japanese version is Crazy Nights, a cover of the same song by Loudness and in the North American Detroit Rock City, a cover version of KISS, available as a bonus track.
On the European version are with Angel of Mercy by Chastain and the bonus track Rising Force by Yngwie Malmsteen two cover versions.
The song Hearts on Fire was published in the same single on September 30th.
