Dafydd Wigley

Dafydd Wigley, Baron Wigley of Caernarfon in the County of Gwynedd PC ( born April 1, 1943 in Derby, Derbyshire, England) is a British politician of Plaid Cymru, the 27 years as a member of the House of Commons was, and since 2011 a member of the House of Lords.

Life

Career and longtime House deputy

After attending the Grammar School in Caernarfon and the Rhydal Penrhos School Wigley graduated in economics at the Victoria University of Manchester. Member of the National Assembly of Wales and the House of Lords member

In the National Assembly for Wales elections on 6 May 1999 Wigley was chosen as the top candidate of the Plaid Cymru member of the National Assembly for Wales ( NAW ), and was this to 2003, representing the constituency of Caernarfon. During this time, he was from 1999 to 2000 as chairman of Plaid Cymru Group at the same time leader of the opposition.

During his membership in the National Assembly, he also was between 1999 and 2003 Member of the Committee for North Wales and between 2000 and 2003 of the Committee on Economic Development and at the same time from 2001 to 2003 the Culture Committee. Furthermore, Wigley, who is honorary president of Plaid Cymru since 2001, was from 2001 to 2003 "shadow finance minister " in the shadow cabinet of Plaid Cymru and 2002-2003 Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of the National Assembly.

In 2002 he the University of Wales, an honorary Doctor of Law ( Honorary Doctor of Laws ) awarded. Between 2003 and 2006 he served as Pro- Chancellor of the University of Wales.

On 19 November 2010 it was announced that Queen Elizabeth II in the County of Gwynedd raises him as a life peer with the title Baron Wigley of Caernarfon in the peerage. On 24 January 2011 his Introduction ( Introduction) followed as a member of the House of Lords.

In addition to his membership in the House of Lords he serves as Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Faculty of Economics ( School of Business ) of the Bangor University. Lord Wigley, president of the National Library of Wales, is also trustee of the pension fund for former members of the National Assembly for Wales and the Sir Kyffin Williams Trust in Llangefni.
