Dahir Riyale Kahin

Dahir Riyale Kahin ( Somali: Daahir Riyaale Kaahin, and therefore Rayaleh Kahin written ) (* 1952 in Qulunjed, Awdal, Somalia ) was 2002-2010 President of the de facto independent, internationally unrecognized Somaliland.

Life

Dahir Riyale Kahin was born in 1952 as a member of Gadabursi -Dir clans in Qulunjed, Awdal in northern Somalia. He worked as a diplomat in neighboring Djibouti, as governor of Awdal and businessman. During the rule of Siad Barre, he was also in the National Security Agency, NSS, who was known for torture, "disappearances " and extrajudicial executions; while the clan of the Isaaq, which provides the majority of the population in northern Somalia / Somaliland, in the rebel movement Somali National Movement fought against the Barre government, the smaller communities of Gadabursi supported rather the government.

After the death of President Mohammed Haji Ibrahim Egal on May 3, 2002, he took over in accordance with the Constitution of Somaliland on May 5, whose term of office.
