Dals Rostock

Dals Rostock is a settlement ( Tätort ) in the Swedish Mellerud. The place is only regionally called Rostock. The suffix " Dals " in the official name refers to the historical province of Dalsland, and was chosen to avoid confusion with the northern German city of Rostock. The population was 829 persons in 2010.

History

Apart from the health establishment (see below ) the place was built, together with the railway line Dalslandsbanan in the 1870s. The built during this era fixation point and the station buildings have been decommissioned or demolished for a long time. A model of this building in half size is still in place. The in 1908 coaching for Dals Rostock existed until 1995.

Rostock Brunn

The ferruginous spring in Dals Rostock was probably used as early as the 17th century as a spa facility. Under the leadership of Provost Waldenstrom created around 1760 several drinking and bathing halls. A frequent guest was at the beginning of the 19th century, King Charles XIV John. In the following years the plants were visited in high season of up to 600 guests. After a major fire in 1961, the restaurant and doctors Villa were the only remaining building. Here is a museum and a café emerged.
