Dania Beach is a city in Broward County in the U.S. state of Florida with 29 639 inhabitants ( 2010). The geographic coordinates are: 26.06 ° North, 80.15 ° West. The metropolitan area has a size of 16.3 km ².

Geography

Dania Beach is located about 20 km north of Miami. Surrounding municipalities are Davie, Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood.

History

The settlement, which was originally called Modello, was the first municipality in Broward County. Founded in the 1880s, she was awarded the status of a municipality in November 1904. Most of the 35 residents were of Danish ancestry, and they changed the name of the city in Dania. Since 1999, the church is called Dania Beach. From 2000 to 2011, the wooden roller coaster in Dania Beach Hurricane was in operation.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 29.639 inhabitants spread over 15.671 households. The population density was 1875.9 inh. / Km ². 69.6 % of the population were white, 21.8 % African American, 0.3% Native American and 2.1% Asian Americans. 3.6% were members of other ethnic groups and 2.6% in different ethnic groups. 22.4 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 25.8 % of all households lived in 25.2 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 56.2 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.28 persons and the average family size is 2.92 people.

20.8% of the population were younger than 20 years, 27.8 % were 20-39 years old, 30.2% were 40-59 years old and 21.2% were at least 60 years old. The median age was 41 years. 49.3 % of the population were male and 50.7 % female.

The average annual income was $ 44,608, while 16.8 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

Traffic

Dania Beach is traversed or affected by Interstates 95 and 595, U.S. Highways 1 and 441, and the Florida State Roads A1A, 5, 7, 84, 818, 822 and 848. Directly to the north borders the city to the Fort Lauderdale- Hollywood International Airport. In the urban area there is also the breakpoint Fort Lauderdale / Hollywood International Airport Station, which is operated by the Tri-Rail on the route from Miami to Mangonia Park.
