Daniel Reuss

Daniel Reuss ( b. 1961 ) is a German - Dutch choral conductor. Reuss was born as the son of German parents in the Netherlands and studied at the Rotterdam Conservatorium choral conducting with Barend Schuurman. In 1982 he founded the Early Music Koor Arnhem, which he built into one of the most prestigious amateur choirs in the Netherlands.

Work

From 1990, Reuss was artistic director of the Cappella Amsterdam. He also worked with the Schoenberg Ensemble, the Orchestra of the 18th century, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the Radio Chamber Orchestra, Concerto Palatino and the Cappella Amsterdam.

From 1995 to 2000 he headed the Department of Choral Conducting the Music Academy in Amsterdam. As a conductor, he worked with the Netherlands Radio Choir, the Collegium Vocale Gent, the Balthasar - Neumann Choir and the SWR Vocal Ensemble Stuttgart, but also with chamber orchestras such as the Prometheus Ensemble and with the Norwegian Symphony Orchestra in Stavanger. From 2003 to 2006 he was chief conductor of the RIAS Chamber Choir in Berlin.

For his CD with works by Robert Heppener with the Netherlands Chamber Choir Reuss received the Edison Award. A CD with works by Frank Martin and Olivier Messiaen was awarded the Diapason d'or de l' année 2004 and the Prize of the German Record Critics.

2006 Reuss served as guest conductor and lecturer of the Lucerne Festival Academy. In 2007 he made ​​his debut at the English National Opera with Handel's Agrippina. Since the 2008/ 09 season he leads the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir as chief conductor.
