Daniel Senet

Daniel Senet ( born June 26, 1953) is a French former weightlifter.

Sporting career

Senet was launched in 1974 at the World Championships in Manila featherweight up to 60 kg. Here he reached the eighth place with 242.5 kg ( 110.0 / 132.5 kg ). Even the World Cup 1975 in Moscow he went to yet featherweight and increased here on 257.5 kg ( 115.0 / 142.5 kg ). First was the Bulgarian Georgi Todorov with 285.0 kg.

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal moved Senet then the light weight to 67.5 kg in which he took the rest of his career. With an increase of 300.0 kg ( 135.0 / 165.0 kg ), he took silver behind Petro Korol, who lifted 305.0 kg. The Olympics also represented the World Championships in 1976, so that Senet additionally won World Championship gold in the snatch, as well as silver in the duel.

At the World Championships 1977 in Stuttgart, he was able to bring a valid attempt in pushing, reaching no duel ranking after 135.0 kg in the snatch. His performance in the snatch but enough for the silver medal. Also at the World Cup 1979 in Salonika prevented its relatively poor performance in pushing better placement. After he mastered 142.5 kg in the snatch and thus won bronze in this sub-discipline, he pushed 170.0 kg and 312.5 kg thus obtained in a duel, which meant bronze here. The winner Janko Russew ripped with 145.0 kg, 2.5 kg more, but could significantly increase its lead in pushing with 187.5 kg and 332.5 kg so. Second was Joachim Kunz with 325.0 kg.

In his second Olympic Games in 1980 Senet reached the fourth place. With an output of 322.5 kg ( 147.5 / 175.0 kg ), he was able to win World Championship silver in the snatch again, but he was expelled from the competition in pushing ultimately of the medals. The winner was again Russew with 342.5 kg ( 147.5 / 195.0 kg ).

His last world championship played Senet in 1981 on home soil in Lille. Here he secured with 150.0 kg in the snatch gold and 320.0 kg ( 150.0 / 170.0 kg ) bronze in single combat. This World Cup is presented at the same time the European Championship in 1981, which he was also third in the European Championships and European champion in the snatch.
